Sustainability couldn’t be more important to JS Wright & Sons
For more than a century (and four generations of the Wright family) our mission has been to plant more trees than we fell. Our continuing re-generation programme is the best in the industry. On average, we aim to annually plant three times as many trees we cut down (far more than the minimum one-for-one the Forestry Commission requires).
Our headquarters in Essex is partly powered by on-site 150kW solar, and we use 95% of the electricity produced. All bark and factory offcuts are used to supply either biomass plants or mulching, via our partners at LC Energy. Furthermore, sawdust waste from our factory is used for horse bedding, and we have a customer in Leicestershire, that uses it to grow mushrooms. We subscribe to a plastic cup recycling scheme in the yard and all our cardboard waste is recycled.
