What we do

We set the standards others aspire to. Everything we do is designed to preserve the English Cricket Bat Willow industry and ensure willow cricket bats continue to be used.

That’s why we’re trusted by landowners across the UK and leading cricket bat manufacturers throughout the world. Each week we travel the length and breadth of the UK to check on existing sites and discover new opportunities for growth.

Maintenance

The best advice and guidance, and optional maintenance contract

Maintenance is of paramount importance as livestock, weather conditions, and overgrown side shoots can affect the commercial value of the trees.

For this reason, we offer advice and can inspect and trim your contracted trees, removing side shoots to approx. 11 feet.

Felling

We look after your land as if it were our own

Top market rates: we offer competitive prices for high-quality mature English Cricket Bat Willow.

Leave no trace: skilled teams use specialised equipment, ensuring land and riverbanks are protected and every site is left clean, tidy, and ready for replanting.

Free replanting: every mature tree harvested replaced with a new, ‘arrow-straight’ set at no cost

Production

Finely-tuned over many decades of craftsmanship

wedges of english cricket bat willow ready to be cut into clefts

First, we remove the trunk and crosscut into lengths. Next, each length is split like cutting a cake or separating the segments of an orange, to obtain the optimum number of cricket bat clefts.

Then, the clefts are sawn to the rough shape of a bat blade and waxed each end to prevent splitting before being naturally air dried for sometime, and then going into the timber driers.

Our unwavering demand for excellence and quality ensures we supply the most consistently well-dried, high quality blades.

Grading

Our customers trust our quality – this reputation is hard-earned

We are very strict about the entire production process and consistently grade our blades to the highest level, with satisfied customers throughout the world. Our customers trust our grading process, from blades suited to the smallest children’s bats to the bats used by professional cricket players the World over.
