New video exploring the journey from planting willow trees to creating cricket bats
A few weeks before Christmas, we received a very interesting email from New York.
It was from a senior producer from Business Insider asking whether we would be interested in featuring in a video about cricket bat production. It was part of a series of videos looking at the craftsmanship, quality, time and resources it takes to produce high quality items.
Mapping the process from planting to production
It transpired JS Wright & Sons were recommended to Business Insider by one of our customers, Jatin Sareen of Sareen Sports, as the video wanted to look at the process from originally planting willow trees to the creation of a cricket bat for some of the world’s best cricketers.
We are delighted to say the final video has now been published on the Business Insider You Tube channel.
The video features interviews with company directors Jeremy Ruggles and Oliver Wright, both in our yard at Great Leighs and out in the field, as we explain the process and importance behind supplying English willow to around 75% of the world’s cricket bats.
A thank you to our staff
It was great to have some of our loyal and long-standing staff members interviewed. A big thank you to Adam Monksfield and Bruce Arthy (who has worked for us for nearly 50 years) for stepping up to the crease, so to speak. We hope you will find it a valuable insight into our work and the process of creating cricket bats for all.
