Jeremy heads to India for 25th annual customer visit

JS Wright & Sons’ co-owner, Jeremy Ruggles, is currently in India to visit and support some of our existing customers.

Jeremy makes the trip once a year, although he hasn’t been able to do so since 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The purpose of Jeremy’s visit

On what is his 25th annual visit, Jeremy will be meeting with some of the customers that rely on JS Wright & Sons for the best quality English cricket bat willow.

“We have been dealing with many companies for over 30 years, and I have been visiting them for 25 years”, he explains.

“My first visit was in 1995, and I was joined by my co-owner Nick for the first few trips.

“The visits give us a chance to catch up with customers at their factories, and allows customers to show us any changes they have made or voice any queries they might have in relation to supply, grading etc.

“In some instances I am now dealing with the sons of the fathers that I dealt with previously. All of the people will visit are more like friends than customers.”

A chance to meet an old friend

Over the course of his 24 visits, Jeremy has built friendships with a number of customers with whom JS Wright & Sons have worked for many years. He looks forward to meeting with them and sampling the local cuisine.

“I love Indian food, although the sports production cities of Meerut and Jalandhar have many good restaurants that serve both Indian and Chinese food.

“I look forward to visiting my friend, Suresh Gupta, and enjoying Amritsari fish and chips. We have known each other for 25 years.”

A first experience of IPL during his 25th visit

This trip will be particularly special for Jeremy, as he will be getting his first taste of the IPL.

“One of the things I am most looking forward to is going to see the IPL live for the first time.

“I’ll be watching Kolkata Knight Riders against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens, before going to see Royal Challengers Bangalore face Delhi Capitals at Chinnaswamy Stadium.

“A lot has changed during the time that I have been going to India. The infrastructure, roads and the airport have all improved drastically.

“I am always excited to visit, though, and I’m looking forward to heading out there.”
